12 Things To Do This Christmas
It’s almost that time of the year again, yes, it’s Christmas and my favorite time of the year!!! I took a trip to the mall the other day and there were Christmas decorations everywhere, little elves, reindeer, and other assorted Christmas decorations.
Christmas comes once a year in December which coincides with the end of the year so there are always a lot of festivities and celebrations ongoing.
But I am an introvert and don’t exactly like to be at the center of such celebrations so I usually have to find ‘exciting’ things for me to do.
My early Christmas gift to you would be to share my tips with you.
Let’s get started
Christmas Decorations
“Deck the halls with boughs of holly, la la la la la la la la la” This might be a good time to head to the nearest tree farm or the nearest store to get your Christmas tree then stop at the nearest decor store to get your angels, stars, lights, elves, and boughs.
I recently developed a love for colorful Christmas trees and I am still trying to convince my husband to let us get a blue or purple Christmas tree. Fingers crossed, I hope he agrees.
Volunteer at a Local Organization
Though, it is the holiday season, the end of the year is usually a trying time for most people, you could volunteer at a local organization or at the nearest homeless shelter and help bring the holiday spirit into the lives of those who really need all that cheer.
I personally love charities and acts of philanthropy, I am at my happiest when I am helping the less privileged.
Donate Old Winter Gear
Do you know those winter jackets you have had forever? it’s time to let them go. Let them go and keep someone else warm.
If you have had it forever, chances are; you have no plans of wearing it again or you haven’t worn it in a while so you can either donate it at the nearest charity or religious center. It’s also a good chance for you to declutter.
Give Away Old Toys
If your babies have outgrown some toys and there are no grand-babies in sight, this is your chance to wrap these toys up and give them to the next child they are appropriate for.
Instead of keeping them in storage or in the garage, thus cluttering up your home, why not sow them into someone else’s lives?
Play In The Snow
Chances are that it’s snowing already where you are, so why not take your time, relive those childhood memories, play in the snow, make angels in the snow, have snow fights and build snowmen?
Embrace The Outdoors
Besides playing in the snow, there are other fun things you could do like; walking around your neighborhood, admiring other people’s decorations, or getting to meet your neighbors.
I love the outdoors in December; the way the snow falls on the surviving trees and everything is white and beautiful. You could also try bundling up for a picnic or backyard games or skating.
Bake
This just became my favorite thing to do. I recently got my oven fixed and I have suddenly developed an appetite for baked things. This December, I would be trying all sorts of baked goodies including Christmas-themed pastries.
Instead of having conventional meals this holiday season, why not try bite-sized pastries?
Watch Holiday Movies
There is never a lack of holiday movies on streaming sites and viewers are usually flooded with suggestions around this time of the year.
This season could be a good time to rewatch ‘Home Alone’ or ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ or ‘The Rise of the Guardians’ or even ‘Frozen’.
This could also be a good time to let your children watch animations like Moana, Coco, Encanto, and The Croods while you sit back and sip your hot cocoa.
Gift Shopping
I am one of those people who do Christmas shopping before Halloween and I understand most people aren’t wired like that but those Christmas gifts still have to be bought or ordered, packaged or wrapped and sent so it’s not a bad idea to start now.
If you need help on what gifts to get for whom, check out my previous post.
Budget
It’s always a good idea to work with a budget when buying gifts or preparing for the holiday season.
It helps control your expenses and ensures you don’t go bankrupt while you are still giving the best gifts.
Reflect on The Year’s Resolutions
Remember last December when you made resolutions and goals for this year? this is a good time to look over the events of this year and see which goal you were able to achieve and which one needs a little bit more work.
It’s also a good time to assess how much you have changed or matured and appreciate the person you have become.
Make New Year Resolutions
December will come and go. Its exit will usher in the new year, now is the time to make your resolutions for the incoming year and outline what goals you would want to set for yourself.
No pressure though, you should make realistic goals and your new goals should head toward self-improvement.
I hope these tips of mine would help you have the best Christmas ever. Is there a tip you want to add? leave it in the comment section, and don’t forget to applaud, highlight and share.
I wish you a merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year in advance!!!
