Vacation Spots & Destinations You May Want To Check Out / My Vacation Bucket List.
Whether you have just come back from a vacation or just longing for one, holidays and vacations humans can’t seem to get enough of.
A vacation is more than an avenue for relaxation; it’s a period of rejuvenation, refreshing, and recentering yourself. It could also be an avenue to take stock of all your goals and ambitions and be thankful for how far you have come
It could also be a time to check those goals you haven’t achieved and adjust how you approach them. Here’s a list of my top ten vacation spots.
Machu Picchu
Often referred to as the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu is the most familiar icon of the Inca civilization, a civilization with no written language. Archaeologists believe that it was built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438–1472).
You might choose to start your tour at the Temple of the Three Windows or the Temple of the Moon then move up to the Salcantay then make your way down the Inca Trail, stopping by the Aguas Calientes for a brief moment before going down to the Banos Termales De Cocalmayo.
Machu Picchu has a lot of trails for tourists to hike or zipline at. It has a few temples for5 sightseeing and some hot springs to relax at.
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
From the nursery rhyme, ‘7 rivers in Africa’ popularly known amongst African school children, one might already have heard of the river ‘Zambezi’. Victoria fall is a waterfall on the Zambezi River located in Southern Africa but believe me, nothing prepares you for the height nor the beauty of this waterfall.
Standing at 108 meters with a combined width of 1708 meters, Victoria Falls is considered the world’s largest falling sheet of water and is roughly twice the height and width of North America’s ‘Niagara Falls’.
It also boasts a view I wouldn’t mind waking up to every day.
Tahiti, French Polynesia
Formed from volcanic activity, this island is surrounded by coral reefs making hiking at the Faarumai Waterfalls and the Fautaua Waterfalls; a tourist’s favorite. Tourists could also visit the Tahiti Pearl Market or visit the Notre Dame Cathedral or swim at the La Plage de Maui or go diving at the Eleuthera Tahiti Diving Center or pray at the Papeete Tahiti Temple.
Tahiti also has more than a few blue water beaches tourists certainly would enjoy.
Phuket Island, Thailand
Phuket Island is one place that has something for everyone. You could go swimming at Karon Beach, Scuba diving at Kamala Beach, snorkeling at Nai Harn Beach, surfing at Kata Noi Beach or even visit the Karon Temple Market or visit the Phuket Trickeye Museum.
There’s just so much to do in Phuket that I doubt there would be a single boring moment for anyone. You could even go camping or fishing at John Gray’s Sea Canoe or visit the Phuket Seashell Museum or see the Bang Pae Waterfall or relax at the Bang Tao Beach Resort.
Maui, Hawaii
We have all seen pictures of that friend or family member in the blue waters that Maui certainly boasts of but Maui isn’t just blue water and beaches; it’s an embodiment of paradise with its jungles, volcanoes, waterfalls, and yes, beaches.
If you will be visiting Maui, you would want to see the Maui Ocean Center, the Kula Botanical gardens, the Garden of Eden Arboretum, and the Botanical Garden. You also want to see the blue waters of Napili Beach, Baldwin Beach Park, the Makena State Park and go scuba diving at the Ahihi- Kinau Natural Area Reserve, ziplining over the Maui Tropical Plantation or visit the distilleries at the Ocean Vodka
Paris, France
We have all heard of the Eiffel Tower but I can guarantee you that’s not all there is to see in France. From taking a boat ride across the Seine River, and walking along the hallways of the Louvre Art Museum and the Palace of Versailles to having lunches at 5 Michelin Stars restaurants with a view of the Eiffel Tower, Paris is the place for lovers.
Rome, Italy
Whether you are a religious person or a lover of history, Rome, Italy has something for everyone. With lovely sites like; the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Villa Borghese Gardens, the Sistine Chapel the movie-famous Trevi Fountain, and the Fountain of Neptune, a vacation in Rome is sure to be fun-filled.
Rome is one place I would love to visit someday; it just has a way of making you wish that you are a part of the history every single site boasts of.
India
I love Indian movies and one thing I would love to do someday is visiting the movie-famous Taj Mahal, the Red Fort, the Bangalore Palace, the Lotus Temple, the Ganga, Amer Fort, the Gandhi Smriti, Sri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and so much more.
These are all sites you must have seen in at least one Indian movie because if there’s one thing Bollywood always tries to do; it’s to showcase their historical sites and we, the viewers don’t mind because their architecture is topnotch.
Athens, Greece
There’s no better place to learn about the gods of old and the new than Athens, Greece. Athens is home to sites such as; the Temple of Zeus, the temple of Hephaestus, the Church of the Holy Apostles, the Daphni Monastery, the Philopappos Monument, the Church of Panagia, and Kapnikarea.
Athens also boasts of other historical sites such as the; Hellenic Motor Museum, Acropolis Museum, Parthenon, and the Acropolis of Athens amongst historical museums.
Greece is that one place that makes you feel like you are walking where the gods once walked and you are seeing what they once saw.
Tuscany, Italy
When I saw the movie ‘Under the Tuscan sun’ as a child, I just knew it was one place I would love to go to. Besides the fact that Diane Lane killed that performance, Tuscany is such a beautiful place to be and I am not just saying that because the town looks picturesque.
Often referred to as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Tuscany boasts of historical sites such as; Piazzale Michelangelo, Piazza del Campo, the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, Piazza del Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, and the well-kept Boboli Gardens.
If there’s one thing that there’s never a shortage of in Italy; it’s chapels, monuments, fountains, and museums.
In conclusion, where you would be going on vacation depends on the goal of your holiday. Whatever your goals and preferences are, this list would help you choose the right place for your pleasure.
