You Might Like My Skin Care Routine
If there’s anything besides food that takes all of my money, it would be skincare products. I love taking good care of my skin though I have a sensitive one. One would think black people’s skin wouldn’t be sensitive, right? Nope, you are wrong, my skin and body react negatively to most products, so I don’t get to try many new products on my skin.
You might understand why that’s a little stifling with my love for variety and adventure. Here are a few products I have tested over time that have stayed true to my skin. In this article, I will list them and explain how I use them.
Products
- TonyMoly Blueberry Foam Cleanser
- Medipeel Vitamin Bomb Refreshing Mask
- Consly Calm & Soften Cleansing Foam
- Listerine 6 in-1 Mouthwash
- Nivea 72h Repair & Care Body Lotion with Deep Moisture Serum
- Nivea Fabulous Flower Limited Collection Edition
- Pucelle Mist Cologne: Sweet Fantasy
- Belita Camomile Softening Hand Cream
- Belita Olive Hand Cream
- Msmetics Micellar Water
Yeah, I know it looks like I use a lot of products, but some are for my morning routine, while others are for my night routine. Yes, a baby girl goes to bed smelling good!!! My partner and I sometimes joke that I must be going on dates in my dreams.
Let’s start with my morning routine.
Good Morning Sunshine
Yeah, I am one of those whose brains start working the moment they open their eyes in the morning; you know that coworker or roommate you sometimes want to kick out? That’s me. Depending on my daily schedule, I try to do my morning routine as much as possible the moment I enter the bathroom for the first time.
The first product on my face after brushing my teeth is my TonyMoly Foam Cleanser or the Consly version. I love this foam cleanser because it’s gentle on my skin and has this calming effect; like you know, it’s working on your skin while you rub it in gentle circles. I usually will wash it off with lukewarm water and pat it till my skin is almost dry.
If it’s a relaxing weekend, I put on my medipeel refreshing mask. When I tried this mask for the first time over the summer, I found new meanings to the word ‘refreshing.’ I instantly felt relaxed though I was sitting at my kitchen table.
The mask says to leave it on for 10 to 20 minutes, but I love to be on the safe side, so I usually take it off after 15 minutes and rub in the rest of the moisture. Please note that I don’t use masks every day.
After the mask, I put on some of my Nivea SOS Repair and Care body lotion. Like the name, this lotion was the answer to my cry for help. It comes with a deep moisture serum that penetrates your pores, leaving your skin fresh and acne free for up to 72 hours.
Before I started using this product, I usually would have a lot of acne around a particular time of the month, but I realized that with this product, I am acne free even around that period.
After the body lotion has been carefully rubbed in, I spray on my Nivea antiperspirant which I just discovered is a limited edition, and now I might have to hoard it. That’s not why we are here, though.
The antiperspirant has a very good flowery scent that you want to take in all day, and it lasts up to 48 hours with no visible marks. Trust me, I tested that theory, and here’s what I found: while the scent can last up to 48 hours, it still leaves some unattractive marks on your clothes.
I also recently found a hack on Instagram that suggests that spraying a little of your spray or perfume on your body lotion before rubbing in makes the entire body smell good. I haven’t tried it out, though.
Up next is my Pucelle mist cologne: sweet fantasy. This one is a product I have been obsessed with since my teenage years. This scent right here is giving me sexy vibes.
After the mist cologne, I smear on my hands the Belita hand creams; they make my hands feel like a baby’s skin.
Lights Out
After all work is done, I don’t slide onto the bed. No, I head to the bathroom and begin my night routine.
Depending on whether I have worn makeup or not during the day, I would put a little bit of micellar water on some clean and gentle cotton balls and wipe away all traces of dirt or makeup. The micellar water gets up to three times the amount of dirt facial wipes can wipe at a go.
Also, I hardly use wipes because they don’t feel so great on my skin, and the micellar water is better.
The next product I use is the Listerine 6-in-1 Mouthwash. It offers fresh breath, cavity protection, whitens, kills bad breath, repairs your enamel and kills germs. This mouthwash does it all. However, I recently discovered that when I took a break from it, my tooth started to ache.
After this, I get into the shower and spread the tony moly foam cleanser on my face. I prefer to apply this with my hands while standing under the shower. It foams up pretty nicely and makes my face feel clean.
Then I proceed into the bedroom, where I repeat the same routine with my Nivea SOS lotion, but this time, I make sure to get a generous amount of it on my body and rub it very well.
I also repeat the same routine with my antiperspirant and mist cologne, but this time, I target pressure points as they ensure your chosen scent lasts longer.
I also ensure I don’t leave out my hand creams; you never know who I might have to shake hands with in my dreams.
If you haven’t been working on your skincare or you don’t exactly have a routine, this is your sign to start, and I promise you that your body will reward you with glowing and fresh skin though there’s always the iPhone camera option.
Stay glowing.
